It was mid-November and with Christmas nearing, I was stumped as to what to give my three-month old son. We already had heaps of baby toys which have been passed down to him from my three-year old daughter, not to mention we are running out of space to house all these aforementioned toys!
So I decided to make him some handcrafted toys that I designed myself, something special that no one else had and he could keep for years to come and not end up in the "spare room".
After getting started with a few toys, I decided to try my hand at some taggy squares. He is now getting to the age where hes grabbing at things and rubbing them to his face, so I needed something soft and also interesting, bright and fun that he could play with. And best of all, you can take them anywhere! They fit into a baby bag, (or if you're like me and don't like lugging around a huge bag everywhere) a hand bag; they can be attached to those plastic baby links and be linked to a pram, a highchair, car seats... you name it!

Having conquering taggy squares, I was feeling quite adventurous! Owls started popping up everywhere around the house, the soft plush-toy kind, that is! Our owl family is still growing, with new additions every week or so. They are so fun to make and its amazing how much personality you can get out of them, be it cheeky, coy or cute, and each of them has their own unique look.
Since then I've made some lace singlet tops for my almost-four-year-old daughter, which she loves, being the girly-girl she is. I didn't think my husband would appreciate his son in lace, so I made an appliqued tweety bird singlet for him. I've since made a girly version of this for a friend of mine.
